A big Mahalo to Anaina Hou who is now bringing live music, trivia and lots of social gatherings to the north shore of Kauai! You may not recognize the name, but Anaina Hou is the community center that features a mini-golf surrounded by a botanical garden in Kilauea. It is also known as the starting point for the Wai Koa Loop trail, a fire show every Wednesday night, and one of the best playgrounds on the island. The Farmers Market on Saturday morning offers some of the freshest local produce, flowers and homemade products. And, there is talk of a craft fair to be held at the same time.
But, what many north shore residents are most excited about are the events that have been happening at the Porter Pavilion; a beautiful, newly built, large room with a stage, that is a perfect venue for movies and live music. Pau Hana Fridays have become very popular. At least one Friday a month a musical group from around the island or abroad is brought in to perform. Food trucks offer ono (delicious) food and concessions are sold. Happy Hour runs from 5:00 to 7:00 with music from 6:00 to 9:00. Keiki (children) are welcome so it makes for a great opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. There is seating inside the pavilion or on a large grassy area which can be used to picnic. It is quite the social gathering and guess what – it’s free!
Major, well-know musicians are also brought in. As an example, Anuhea will be performing to celebrate her 10th anniversary album on Saturday, November 16th, 2019. She is bringing with her, Mahi, a finalist on American Idol.
Born in Maui, Anuhea is a Hawaiian contemporary singer/songwriter who made her recording debut in 2009. Her primary influences have been Bob Marley, Jack Johnson, India.Arie, and Jason Mraz. Mahi brings his high energy blend of island pop infused with a dash of fun. Together it should be a great concert.

Another Special Event This Month
The national touring play The Legend Of Ko’olau opens on Kauai for two days only on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 at Anaina Hou Community Park’s Porter Pavillion.
Selected for creation funding by the National Performance Network of New Orleans, the one-man play about the legendary Hawaiian cowboy Kaluaiko’olau has toured to sold-out audiences in Hawaii and nationally, including the Performing Arts Theatre at Sacramento City College and the David Henry Hwang Theatre in Los Angeles. It was invited by the Hawaii state officials for a special performance at the Kalaupapa National Park on Molokai before survivors of Hansen’s Disease and their families.
The story of the Hawaiian cowboy Kaluaiko’olau has been written about by the late novelist Jack London and by poet W.S. Merwin. For the first time, it features this historic figure telling the story in a theatrical drama — and the drama has received high praise.
6:00 to 9:00 PM
$20 General Admission to $50 VIP
