Have you ever thought about adding a Kauai spa experience to your time on the Garden Island? There are a few spas on the island, but how about if the spa came to you? Recently I was introduced to Robin Sheldon, owner and operator of Mobile Spa Kauai. Once a month a friend of mine invites Robin to her home for an hour and a half massage/facial treatment. She schedules herself and two other friends (a spa party!). I was lucky enough to be one of the “others” last month, and I can tell you first hand that it is a heavenly experience.
The first hour is a massage from head to toe. Following that is a wonderful facial, complete with warm scented towels, essential oils, a facial steamer, calming music and more. I can just imagine having this experience with the sound of the ocean in the background! Don’t plan on getting much accomplished after these 90 minutes, however, because your body and mind will be in complete relaxation mode.
For the first time, on the north shore of Kauai, Aquatic Bodywork sessions are offered by my friend, Kalaya Delmars, an Aquatic Specialist certified in four water therapies (Watsu, Jaraha, Water Dance, Healing Dance). This exclusive kind of therapy is offered at only the very elite hotel spas in the world. Imagine floating in a warm water pool while being massaged and stretched by an expert!
The warm water embrace of Aquatic Bodywork invites the muscles to relax and the spine to open with each movement. The buoyancy and hydrostatic pressure of the water supports and increases blood circulation and lymphatic flow helping with range of motion, muscle tightness, weakness and emotional stress. Aquatic Bodywork helps break the pain cycle. What better time to try out this therapy than when on vacation?
Vacations are for relaxing, right? What better way to relax than to treat yourself to a massage. Fortunately for you there is a fabulous massage therapist living one block down from Honu Point Vacation Rental. She recently retired but still offers private massages from her quiet studio in the back of her beautiful home.
In her own words:
“I began studying various healing modalities beginning in 1980 and became a licensed massage therapist in the state of Hawaii in 1990.
My passion has been learning techniques to help others in the rejuvenation and healing of their body and spirit. Kauai has had a deep influence on my work through the practice of Lomi lomi, the ancient Hawaiian style of massage, and through the healing energies of the island herself.
In 1997 I envisioned, created, and managed the oceanside massage program at the Starwood Luxury Collection, The Princeville Hotel on Kauai’s northshore. Many guests returned again and again over the years to experience the exclusive and deeply nurturing massage offered at the waters edge of the beautiful Hanalei Bay.
In 2008 the Hotel went through a major renovation to become the St Regis Princeville, adding the award winning Halelea Spa. I was the lead therapist and trainer at Halelea Spa from it’s inception in 2009 until my retirement in 2015.
My love of healing work continues through my private massage and healing practice in Princeville on the beautiful and nurturing island of Kauai.”
On a personal note, I have had several massages from Marion since I started our vacation rental business and I would highly recommend her. The experience is calming and the improvement in bodily aches and pains is noticeable. You won’t be disappointed.
To contact Marion, email firstname.lastname@example.org or call (808)652-2433. It’s probably best if you set up your appointment prior to arrival. Enjoy!
