If you are visiting Kauai, there is no better place to tee up than the Princeville Makai Golf Course. This video will surely get you in the mood.
As you can see from the video, the Princeville Makai Golf Course wraps in and out of the Princeville Resort Community. The views of the ocean, mountains and Hanalei Bay are spectacular. Besides the golfing activities I mentioned in a previous blog, there are now lessons available with the golf pro, Andrew Schmidt.
I will admit right away that I’m not a golfer. I do know beauty though and the 18 hole Makai Golf Course is in a spectacular setting. Perched on the cliffs of the Princeville Resort Community and just a couple of minutes from our property, this newly renovated championship golf course will not disappoint. It was originally designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. in 1971 and redesigned in 2009. It ranks #65 on “America’s 100 Greatest Public Golf Courses” according to Golf Digest and Golf Magazine claims it is one of the Top 5 Public Golf Courses in Hawaii.
The Rack Rate is $275 but their website states that the best available rates are offered daily on their online booking engine. Juniors, ages 6 – 15 play free with a paying adult. Juniors, ages 16 – 17 pay 50% of the adult rate. Multi round packages are available as well as rental clubs and shoes.
The 9 hole Woods Course (non renovated, Par 36) has a standard rate of $55. The Sunset Golf Cart Tour is a way of enjoying the course without playing the game. The fee for this tour is $50/cart.
